This blog post represents the second part of the blog post on ‘Speaking number’ because it develops the challenges that the students have created after having studied statistics and the use of its tools.

Exercises about sustainable development goals of the Agenda 2030
After watching the introductory video about sustainable development goals, students will solve the exercises. When they are done with that, the following activity will be a mutual challenge in groups about creating problems whose structure is the same one as the sustainability themes previously carried out. They will develop this activity focusing on goals number 2,5,12,13.
- Sustainable development goal n°5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
First, consider the female age group 20-24 years old, identify the country with an educational level above the European average among this group and then compare it with the Italian one.
2. Sustainable development goal n°13: Climate change: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.
Identify the country with the highest greenhouse gas emissions in 2018. Describe the evolutionary trend (2010-2018) in a diagram.
3. Sustainable development goal n°2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Identify the country with the highest rate of poultry production in the current year. First, describe the evolutionary trend during the last five years in a diagram. Secondly, compare it with the Italian trend and write a comment about the result.
4. Sustainable development goal n°12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Identify the countries with an urban waste recycling rate greater than 40% during the observation period.
With the help of statistical tools and reflecting on the goals of the 2030 Agenda, the students created posters for The International Day of Mathematics (IDM) using mathematics as a universal language, to communicate an idea of how to make the world a little better.
