The “Junior STEM Festival” took place on the ground floor of the Lesvos Chamber on Saturday, March 16, 2019 (Arduino Day 2019) at 11 am and it was a great success as it was attended by many students, parents and teachers.
STEM is an approach to education designed to teach mathematics and science and is vital to a basic understanding of the universe. STEM can be described as a new “post-scientific branch”.
The event was an initiative of the Directorate of Secondary Education in Lesvos and the EKFE Lesvou (Laboratory Center of Natural Sciences), organized by the Association of Greek Physicists and the Environmental Education Center of Evergetoula.
Young pupils aged 11 – 12 years old from six Primary Schools of the island who were awarded had the opportunity to present experiments on Science, inspired and elaborated with great responsibility.
More specifically, the children were involved in:
- Generator
- Electric motor
- Newton’s Disc
- Static Electricity
- Mass of the air
- Humidity of air
The pupils’ groups of each elementary school were then awarded with Arduino Educational Kits, sponsorship of the Hellenic Physicists Association. We would like to thank the Hellenic Physicists Association, the KPE Evergetoula and the Chamber of Commerce of Lesvos for the valuable contribution and support of the children’s and teachers’ efforts.
Congrats on the extraordinary work you do at the Laboratory Center of Physical Sciences on the island of Lesvos, Greece!
Thank you Natalia!
