CONTINUITY WITH MATHS

Coronavirus increase very fastly… Certainly like the Exponential numbers. So what about Earth’s continuity? Firstly In this lesson plan, students can discover Exponential numbers. Furthermore, they can make a relation with the Covid19. In Science, students talk about viruses and discover the electron microscopes.For instance by ‘Skype a Scientist ‘activity ,pupils contact with Pen State and MIT universities.They learn about viruses and using electronmicroscopes In Maths pupils configure Exponential numbers. At the same time they create and tell a story about these numbers. Students produce puppets to support the story. Above all sewing up puppets is an Engineeering activity .In additon students write a song as Art.

Above all we use Geogebra as technology . For instance showing the Exponential functions by Technology. On the whole there is STEAM lesson. Finally observing the relationship between the rate of spread of coronavirus and exponential functions, students realize the importance of the sustainability of the world population.As a result if resources decrease the Earth’s continuity will stop.And now stop this Exponential Viruse..

SUMMARY

Firstly the idea of the learning scenario is to take attention to Corona vırus. At the same time students can realise the meaning of Exponential Numbers. After that drawing the graphs of Exponential numbers look like a vırus’s infection gaphs.Finally this plan contains the subjects of Science,Maths, Music and  Computer lessons.

Steam subject-Maths and Science: Students configure Exponential numbers. Moreover pupils can notice the numbers  growing up fastly.In Science lesson we did 2 Skype a Scientist activity.First with Fatma Pir Çakmak,MIT University,USA.Second was with Assistant Teaching Professor,Atilla Özgür Çakmak,Penn State University About nano size and Coronavirus in electron microscopes.

Steam subject-Computer: In computer lesson we use Technology .For instance an educational software,Geogebra.

Non-Steam subject-Music : Above all In music we write a song ‘EXPONENTIAL VIRUS ’

REAL LIFE QUESTIONS

Firstly ,where do we use   EXPONENTIAL NUMBERS in nature?

Secondly.How little a viruse can be?

After that ,how can we relax our psychologies in Pandemic? For example with songs?

In addition what kind of engineering skills we use ?

Similarly Can technology show us infection graphs?

As a result What is the relationship between viruse and sustainability?

Aims of the lesson

Firstly in Maths Lesson configurating  EXPONENTIAL NUMBERS for 11-12 years.In addition students must think about nature’s continuity.

After that using electromicroscopes and learn about nanocharacterization . Above all drawing the graphs of exponential numbers.Firstly students realise the spreading of viruse by Exponential Numbers.

Secondly they understand the importance of resources
exhaustion.Above all if resources decrease Continuity of Earth will be in trouble.

Critical Thinking: Firstly people effect world day by day.But this is not in a positive way. For example students reviewed graphs of infection in the Covid.Secondly people need to relax in their homes during the pandemic.In addition covid stopped the life.Nature need people lives

Creativity: Firstly writing a song and making puppets is a good idea for creativity. After that they can improve 21th century skills.Making connection with Coronavirus,Exponential numbers and Continuity improves creativity.

Technology  literacy:Using the different softwares, in other words technologies, make students literate.For example Geogebra,Kahoot

Collaboration: Therefore this plan aim the same problem with different lessons .Corona vırus infect all around the world very fastly.In a concluison Maths,Science,Music,Art and Technology together.

Initial assessment

In the beginning of the lesson in different groups children could see the similarities of the subjects.And they could see the differences.Similarly this a good example for cooperation.

Firstly in Maths and computer lessons they could configurate the EXPONENTIAL NUMBERS. Secondly students learn about electron microscopes,nano objects,viruses,etc.

Final assessment

In the Music lesson they touch the ART .Moreover they realise the relationship of Nature’s Science And ARTs

Student feedback

They thought lessons  were so enjoyable. Stories ,puppets and drawing graphs made them self confident to the subject.Pandemic make them so nervous.At the end Kahott and song was enjoyable they said.In a conclusion they drew a picture of lesson.

Firstly teachers gave feedback on how the lessons were understood and implemented.In the same way students enjoyed during the lessons.

Computer teacher realise the joy of students when using GEOGEBRA.In addition when they played Kahoot,they solve some technological problems.

Above all music teacher realised the happy children.In conclusion Steam draw attention to an important problem:Continuity of earth.

Finally students answer some questions by Kahoot.As a conclusion they talk about the continuity and sustainability.

Firstly students used electron microscope .Secondly searching Exponential numbers before the lesson.Students worked in different groups After showing the presentations they made peer assesment.They prepared a report of the research.

DESIGN THINKING

Designing is an example for Creativity .For example making a story and song need a big creativity. Firstly IBSE recreates scientific methodology in the classroom.Secondly DT(design thinkin) does the same for design and prototype production. In conclusion develops skills of students.So they think critically.

CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING (CLIL)

CLIL is a pedogogical approa.It integrate foreign language and school subjects.When writing a story and song students think in foreign language.They are learning while using the resources available at their school.They could make language practice by using the foreign language.

As a result students can learn Exponential numbers clearly. In other words they realise the vıruse infection velocity.So people wear masks ,keep social distance and comply with the rules of hygiene.They protect nature by not throwing masks away.In brief they care sustainability of Earth.We must learn Maths for understanding nature.Students feel in a better psychology when integrating music into the lessAt the end, this STEAM lesson help continuity of human mental health,too.
